The next generation edition IHRA opened for season business last weekend with its new Outlaw Nitro Series debuting at Darana Raceway in Benson NC.

The Nitro FC class did draw 10 entries and when competition was concluded it was a veteran IHRA racer – Dale Creasy – who claimed victory lane.

Creasy, driving his Tec Pak-presented Dodge Charger, singled for the win when his scheduled opponent Terry Haddock (from Texas) was unable to make the final round due to mechanical issues.

Creasy (from Illinois) had defeated Jacob McNeal and Del Worsham in the first two rounds for the 8-car 1/8th mile qualified eliminator.

Del Worsham (from California) was credited with both the quickest and fastest math of the event — hitting a 3.202 secs and 282.13 mph to pace the field after qualifying.

The bump spot was a 3.924 secs.
