Points Leader Prevails California’s Del Worsham won the Funny Car division for the IHRA Outlaw Nitro Series event held at Darana Dragway — West Salem, Ohio. Del earned both the $50,000 winners’ purse and his 2nd prestigious IHRA Ironman trophy of the season. with the races live-streamed on IHRA.TV and SPEED SPORT 1. Del became the first repeat winner this season for the Funny Car class when he beat Terry Haddock in the final round – using a hole shot start with an effort of 3.823 secs at 269.95 mph — within the 1/8th mile format event. Haddock had a slightly better time and speed at 3.282 seconds and 271.25 mph. Worsham, who had qualified #1 had dispatched Joe Morrison in the semifinals and Jacob Slater in the quarterfinals. He has been to all four final rounds this season, matching his own mark of four straight final rounds in 1992. “What a day. We’ve closed the deal in two of them now,” Worsham said. “We’ve been to all the finals, and I’ve had tough competition. Every time, the car next to me goes to the finish line, and always makes a full run. That makes it tough because it makes no room for error. A lot of hard work went into this one.” Worsham had the quick run of 3.320 seconds at 265.02 mph to position himself at the top of the Funny Car leader going into Saturday’s eliminations. Terry Haddock was next quick at 3.391 seconds and 241.29 mph. Dale Creasy, Joe Morrison and Jody Austin rounded out the top five – for the presented 8-car field. The IHRA’s Outlaw Nitro Series for 2025 has one race left for it’s season calendar – coming up at Galot Motorports Park in NC (Nov. 5-8). Posted with files by IHRA Communicaitons & Bruce Biegler
