Legacy Continues Apr 14, 2026 // Nostalgia FC Updates // editorSeason round #2 for the very popular – nostalgia-bodied – Legacy Nitro Funny Car Series was run off at last weekend’s NHRA Lucas Oil Winternationals.
That 8-car qualified race event conclusion did feature a terrific USA versus Canada final with Californian Geoff Monise racing Alberta’s Nathan Sitko for the title.
That very quick confrontation saw the win light go to Monise by a 4.644 secs (low ET) 243.02 mph to 4.698 secs 236.80 mph margin.
Driving the “Quarter Pounder” Pontiac Firebird, Geoff had defeated Eily Stafford and Shane Westerfield in rounds one and two.
For Nathan Sitko, who had won the Legacy Series season opener event a couple week prior (at Phoenix), he was the event’s #1 qualifier (4.709 secs) and had taken the Hodgson Racing “Pacemaker/Bubble Up” tribute Firebird to convincing wins over Bill Windham and Derrick Moreira in earlier rounds.
9 cars were entered for the Pomona event producing a bump spot (1000′ racing) at 5.094 secs.
Shane Westerfield (who also drove within the TAFC class at the Winternationals) was credited with top speed of the race at 245.45 mph.

Travis Shumake drove this special edition tribute car to his late father Tripp Shumake at the Pomona race. The Legacy Nitro Funny Car series has an 11-event schedule for 2026 – including for the first time in Canada — at Edmonton’s RAD Torque Raceway (July 10-11) during the Rocky Mountain Nationals.
