Fountain Tire Dodge at Pomona Finals

The Worsham Racing/Fountain Tire Dodge Charger entered last weekend’s NHRA season finale AAA Auto Club Finals at Pomona.

Due to extensive business commitments elsewhere – usual team driver Todd Lesenko was unable to attend the event thus providing another opportunity for skilled team co-driver Grant Downing to enter the race.

Grant, who is originally from New Zealand but who now calls Fullerton California home and the rest of the Worsham racing team had a truly noble effort – which unfortunatley just fell short.

The fuel FC field at Pomona was as tough as it gets — with 23 cars entered – it produced a bump spot of 4.166 secs.

Grant’s quickest run came later on Friday afternoon when he ran a 4.241 secs at 291.07 mph which sat #17 after that evening’s action.

Saturday’s final qualifying attempt looked very promsing to half track with the car showing it’s best incrementals of the event up that point.  But unfortunatley the car then drifted and shook — forcing Grant to abort a full pull and what might very well have been a middle of the field qualified run.

Todd, Grant and Chuck along with everyone else on the Fountain Tire Racing Team offer their congratulations to fellow Mopar FC brand racer Matt Hagan who came out on top at Pomona driving his Dodge Charger.
