North Western Objectives! Jul 18, 2025 // Funny Car News Hotzone // editorChad Green has an difficult job of mentoring his son, Hunter, in one of the toughest motorsports classes to drive — a nitro-burning, 12,000-horsepower Funny Car — as the popular father-son duo compete in the NHRA Mission Drag Racing Series this year. Chad Green, the 2025 NHRA Gatornationals champion from Midland, Tex., brought his son into the Funny Car fray this year after Hunter captured the prestigious U.S. Nationals Top Alcohol Dragster division last year at Indianapolis. And the younger Green has already shown his talent in fire-breathing straight line monsters. Hunter Green defeated four-time NHRA World Champion Matt Hagan at Richmond last month in
only his fourth Funny Car race, and now he comes to Pacific Raceways for this weekend’s (July 18-
 20) Muckleshoot Casino Northwest Nationals for another solid performance with the Pronto Auto
Services Dodge Hellcat machine.Chad Green, currently eighth in the NHRA Mission Funny Car points, brings his Bond-Coat Ford
Mustang to the Northwest seeking a second 2025 NHRA national event victory after clocking some
strong runs in the 3.80s and 3.90s in the last month.“We have restocked our parts and pieces with the three-week layoff, and we are ready for a strong
West Coast Swing,” said Chad Green. “We are looking forward to racing in the cooler weather this
weekend in Seattle after some very hot and humid conditions in June. The Funny Cars always run
well in the Northwest, and I expect that again. We are bringing two good running cars to handle the Seattle track. We are excited for this weekend.”Chad also is anxious to see Hunter compete in the cooler conditions at Seattle. “It’s been a strong learning curve for Hunter in the nitro Funny Car,” Chad explained. “Especially
with the hot and humid weather last month. He has done a great job learning how to handle these
unpredictable cars with high horsepower and he is having fun doing it, too.”Meanwhile, Hunter has been ready for the challenge of racing a Funny Car this year and continues
to gain experience with each pass down the drag strip.“I was excited to get into a Funny Car this year,” said H. Green. “It’s so much different that driving the dragster last year. But I am learning the different nuances with the nitro car. It’s so unusual to handle a Funny Car at speed with the engine in front of you. And the car wants to move around with that kind of power. But so far, I’ve continued to go through the proper process that it takes to control these wild machines. Now, Seattle will be another test for me, and I’m anxious to race in the Northwest.” The two Chad Green Motorsports Funny Car drivers will be in action at the Muckleshoot Casino NHRA Northwest Nationals with nitro qualifying set to begin Friday, July 18. Sunday’s final eliminations begin at 10:30 a.m. PDT on Sunday, July 20. The NHRA Northwest Nationals final eliminations telecast on the FOX Network will start on Sunday, July 20, at 4:30 p.m. EDT.
