Season race #2 within the Legends Nitro Funny Car Series (presented by Extreme Steel) was included within the schedule for NHRA’s Arizona Nationals held at Firebird Motorsports Park (Phoenix AZ).

The event which attracted 10 machines for the 8-car field was ultimately won by Sylmar CA-based racer Dan Horan.

In the championship final Horan drove his Infinity Plumbing Chevy Camaro past defending series champion Bobby Cottrell – taking a 4.706 secs 240.55 mph to 4.826 secs 235.39 mph decision.

Horan, who had qualified #3 had defeated Canada’s Tim Boychuk in round one and then Shane Westerfield in the semi finals.

The popular Legends Nitro Series in 2025 has a 10-race schedule spanning events in the six-race NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Racing Series and four NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series events. For the first time, the nostalgic, nitro-burning Funny Cars will compete at the prestigious Cornwell Quality Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis over Labor Day Weekend.

The Legends Nitro Series will also cross into Canada for the first time — headlining at the Rocky Mountain Nationals event at RAD Torque Raceway in Edmonton on July 11-13.
