Inaugural Five Car Feature Nov 12, 2022 // Funny Car News Hotzone // editorA new era for drag racing was ushered into reality (Nov 4-5th) when Top Fuel Funny Car class racing made it’s official debut for the 400 Thunder Aeroflow Drag Racing Series – during the East Coast Thunder event – hosted at Sydney Dragway.
The headlining nitro cars featured five machines running at the groundbreaking event and they did produce both some quick and fast runs as well as a surprise event winner.
The final round for the event, as anticipated did feature two of Graeme Cowin’s machines with pre-race favourite Morice McMillin’s Aeroflow Toyota paired again his teammate Brandon Gosbell, driver of the Rocket Industries Dodge Charger.
The winner for the first ever 400 Thunder Aeroflow Funny Car event was Brandon Gosbell driving the Rocket Industries Dodge Charger The win light for that pairing went to Gosbell who’s run of 4.904 secs 328.78 outran McMillin’s 5.042 secs at 326.16 mph.
The event also did feature the first ever side by side 4-secs race pairing (1/4 mile) with McMillin edging Justin Walsh in a rather historic 4.998 secs to 4.997 secs dash which occured Friday evening.
The first ever side-by-side 4-secs runs occurred with Morice McMillin edging out Justin Walsh in this pairing. Low ET for the event did however go to Gosbell who’s run of 4.892 secs was the quickest recorded for the event.
