Another Heritage Score for Krabill May 02, 2016 // Nostalgia FC Updates // editorWashington state’s Kris Krabill grabbed his second win in as many racers in NHRA’s Hot Rod Heritage Series Nostalgia Funny Car category.
Krabill (Bellevue, WA), won the very popular NAPA Auto Parts Ignitor Opener event (Presented by Peterson Chevrolet) held at Firebird Raceway in Boise Idaho. That event is a featured part of NHRA’s Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series stop there held each season.
Krabill faced off with Dan Horan Jr from Sylmar, Calif., in a Nostalgia Funny Car final that pitted the two fastest cars on property in a head to head battle. Krabill came into the event having won the Heritage Series season opener March Meet at Auto Club Famoso Raceway.
He picked up where he left off from Bakersfield. After qualifying number five, he picked off Cory Lee and Don Hudson in the first two rounds before clocking in at 5.697 second, 245.27 mph for the win over Horan’s 7.550 secs 122.88 mph to take home the trophy over the 8-car qualified field.
The formidable Canadian cars driven by Ryan Hodgson and Tim Boychuk were also entered at the race. Hodgson qualified his Edmonton-based Chevy Camaro #2 at 5.755 secs but lost out in round #2 to Horan. Boychuk, racing his Happy Hour/NitroMoose Camaro, ran a best of 6.033 secs which just missed the event bump.
