For the 68th time in history \u2014 NHRA\u2019s pinnacle annual event for Nostalgia drag racing went into the books at the Famoso Drag Strip – Bakersfield California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car class racing once claimed top billing for the Good Vibrations Motorsports \u201cMarch Meet\u201d and that final round featured a USA versus Canada conclusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was Pacific Northwest based Mike Peck – earning his first March Meet title \u2014 when he bested Canadian Nathan Sitko in the championship round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mike Peck emerged as the Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car winner for the 68th annual “March Meet”.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Peck\u2019s \u201cInstigator\u201d \u201970 Camaro clocked a winning 5.581 secs at 261.70 mph compared to Sitko\u2019s 5.620 secs 260.19 mph run in the Edmonton-based Hodgson Racing Firebird.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peck (from Washington state) qualified #5 and defeated Derrick Moreira, Drew Austin and Bobby Cottrell in earlier rounds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sitko, who finished a close 2nd in NHRA Hot Rod Heritage series final points last year, defeated Cory Lee, Jon Capps and Shane Westerfield to advance to the final round.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Todd Plate (from Alabama) was the quickest NFC overall when he qualified #1 at 5.485 secs – which held up for low ET of the race.\u00a0 Plate was however upset in round #1 by Geoff Monise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
