NHRA\u2019s Denso Sonoma Nationals see Austin Prock strikes again at NHRA mid-summer stop in California.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Current points leader and reigning world champion Prock picked up his fifth victory in 2025 for John Force Racing, defeating Canadian rookie Spencer Hyde in his Chevrolet SS with a pass of 3.904 at 333.82 in the championship round. It gives the standout his first career victory at Sonoma as well, as Prock continued his dominant reign in the Funny Car ranks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Austin Prock<\/strong> won his 5th race of the season at Sonoma — setting both low ET & Top speed<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, that included a 340-mph run \u2013 the first of the year in Funny Car \u2013 as the world record-holder went 3.833 at 340.90 in his opening-round win against Cruz Pedregon. He followed with wins against Paul Lee and Seattle winner Matt Hagan, setting up the matchup with Hyde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After winning at Seattle just one week prior – Matt Hagan<\/strong> had a strong outing at Sonoma – with a #1 qualifying effort and semi final round finish on Sunday.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Prock left first and never trailed in an impressive wire-to-wire win, strengthening his hold in the loaded Funny Car ranks. His points lead is now 201 over Hagan, continuing his incredible run in the last season and a half.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is huge with the crowd here all weekend long. It was outstanding, and I never realized how many fans I had here in Sonoma County,\u201d Prock said. \u201cWe struggled in qualifying and struggled in Seattle last weekend, so we had a lot of work to do. We went to work and we had four different setups that we were trying throughout the weekend, and we came across something that showed a little potential.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hyde reached his second final round in what has been a standout rookie campaign, defeating Alexis DeJoria, Ron Capps and Jack Beckman. During the event, the young graduate driver from Stratford ON., also clocked in his career quickest ET (3.865 secs) while earning his career best qualifying slot : #2<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ron Capps <\/strong>scored a victory in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge race on Saturday at Sonoma<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

On Saturday at Sonoma it was Ron Capps earning a victory within the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge – the 5th of his career and his second score this season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ron Capps\u2019 3.904 secs 324.20 defeated Matt Hagan in that FC final. Capps had driven his NAPA Toyota past Spencer Hyde in round one of that competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
