Young Hunter Green, only in his fifth NHRA Funny Car event, recorded another impressive qualifying run at the NHRA Summit Racing Equipment Nationals with the Chad Green Motorsports Schaeffler Dodge\/\/SRT Hellcat with a seventh place position in the 16-car field at Summit Motorsports Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Midland, Tex., Funny Car \u201crookie\u201d took his bright green Schaeffler nitro-burning machine to a
solid 3.972 seconds pass at 322.50 miles per hour in the Friday night qualifications in hot and
humid conditions at the popular Ohio racing plant. At the time of the run, Green ranked second in
the field and ended up seventh after Saturday\u2019s two qualifying sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the first round of eliminations, Green had to battle veteran Bob Tasca III and Hunter\u2019s mount lost
traction early in the 1000-foot action with Tasca advancing to the second round. Saturday and
Sunday\u2019s on-track action was hampered by track surface temperatures in 130 and 140 degrees,
making for difficult settings with the 12,000-horsepower race cars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat qualifying run was very good in the tricky conditions with the heat and the humidity,\u201d said H.
Green. \u201cWe didn\u2019t get it done in the first round, losing traction. Overall, we are a new team with the
CGM second car and I\u2019m new to Funny Car. So, it\u2019s a learning curve right now. But we\u2019re pleased
we are going from A to B consistently right now. We\u2019ve been in the top half of the qualified field in
two of five races with the second car. We have come a long way in a short time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere are a lot of things to learn in a nitro Funny Car compared to an alcohol dragster which I
drove last year. The hotter conditions the last two weeks make it very hard for the tuners and crew
chiefs with so much horsepower and a slippery track. But I still have a two or three more races this
year to learn. And I\u2019m excited for the opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hunter\u2019s father, Chad, the 2025 NHRA Gatornationals Funny Car champion, qualified 13th in his
Bond-Coat Ford Mustang and had to take on veteran Jack Beckman in the John Force Racing\u2019s nitro
car. C. Green cut a strong starting line light at 0.072 over Beckman\u2019s 0.091, but the Californian\u2019s
car posted 4.033 seconds to Green\u2019s 4.094 in another close contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe had a good run in that lane (right),\u201d said C. Green. \u201cOnly (Bob) Tasca had a better run in the
right that round. We just are at the wrong end of a good race. Unfortunately, that has been the case
for us lately. The cars are running well, but we need to qualify better to get in that top half of the
field. Hunter and his team did it this weekend, and we need to do that consistently now.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two Chad Green Motorsports Funny Cars will be back in competition on July 18-20 at the NHRA Muckleshoot Casino Northwest Nationals near Seattle as the opening event of the West Coast swing in July.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The NHRA Muckleshoot Casino Northwest Nationals at Pacific Raceways will be televised on July 20 at 4:30 p.m. EDT\/1:30 p.m. PDT on the FOX Network.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
