{"id":6368,"date":"2024-10-20T23:59:57","date_gmt":"2024-10-20T23:59:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?p=6368"},"modified":"2024-10-21T00:01:02","modified_gmt":"2024-10-21T00:01:02","slug":"xpro-opener","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?p=6368","title":{"rendered":"XPRO Opener"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Australia\u2019s&nbsp; NDRC hosted it\u2019s 2024-25 season opening event a fabulous facility Dragway at the Bend (located in Victoria state).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event did include the first round for the XPRO Nitro Funny Car division and it was 3rd generation racer Josh Leahy who showed talent and control well beyond his time in the bracket, with the newcomer blazing through for a well-deserved victory and a new PB while he was at it over Murrihy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It had been a remarkable turnaround for Murrihy to make it to the A-Final against Leahy following a difficult qualifying and round one, but his round two 4.090\/488.59kph effort had signalled a return to form allowing him to make the A-Final, where he ran a 5.405\/222.89kph early-off pass to Leahy\u2019s winning 4.069\/489.23kph performance, which followed the Rocket Industries\u2019 racers earlier strong 4.134\/418.95kph and near-PB 4.070\/467.71kph performances in rounds one and two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ZZD22534-_1_-scaled-e1729467708720.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ZZD22534-_1_-scaled-e1729467699371-1024x338.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6367\" width=\"542\" height=\"179\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ZZD22613-_1__med-e1729467565514.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/ZZD22613-_1__med-e1729467565514.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6366\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Josh Leahy drew the first event win of the season for the NDRC&#8217;s XPRO Nitro Funny Car division &#8211; when he defeated Adam Murrihy in the final round.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>McMillian and Walshe meanwhile had each had their fair share of trouble over the day, with Walshe splitting the dry sump for a large oil leak to miss round one before enjoying a redeeming 4.177\/423.71kph effort on a round two loss, while McMillin had the chutes come out early in both rounds one and two today, remarkably still running four second passes (4.302 and 4.261) despite the drag.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/SpringNat24-Logo.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"403\" height=\"130\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/SpringNat24-Logo.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6363\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/SpringNat24-Logo.png 403w, https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/SpringNat24-Logo-259x84.png 259w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 403px) 100vw, 403px\" \/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In the B-Final, it was Walshe who took home the chocolates in a blazing side by side pass against McMillin, with the Queenslander\u2019s 4.072\/512.63kph effort bettering McMillin\u2019s 4.166\/391.94kph run with his chutes once again out early.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat is a PB and this Rocket Industries Nitro Funny Car is just on rails!\u201d Leahy grinned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI just can\u2019t thank Graeme Cowin, Wendy Cowin and Morice enough for giving me this opportunity, it is just unreal to even think I am here doing this today!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe couldn\u2019t do it without all our partners, they are what supports us, and this whole team is just amazing \u2013 the whole Aeroflow workshop busts their butts to get us out here and I can\u2019t thank them enough.
