Phoenix Positives!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Todd Lesenko and the Uni-Select\/Worsham Racing Dodge Charger continued it\u2019s very positive start to the 2013 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series last weekend at Phoenix\u2019s Firebird Raceway\u2026.<\/em><\/p>\n

On a race weekend which saw Todd celebrate his 50th<\/sup> birthday and which was only his new race team\u2019s 2nd<\/sup> event together — very similar results to that of Pomona were produced.<\/p>\n

During NHRA\u2019s Arizona Nationals, the team enjoyed another solid qualifying effort followed by a significant round victory.<\/p>\n

After qualifying \u201cCanada\u2019s Charger\u201d 14th<\/sup> with a dramatic 4.245 secs at 300.80 mph during Saturday\u2019s final session \u2013 Todd lined up against last week\u2019s O\u2019Reilly Auto Parts Winternationals event champion Courtney Force and her JFR Traxxas Ford Mustang in round one on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Todd left the starting line first (.084 o .097 RT) before both drivers experienced tire spin issues. \u00a0 Todd was able to recover first and ran a winning 5.206 secs at 191.92 mph.<\/p>\n

In round two Todd was scheduled to take on another JFR race car \u2013 this one driven by the drag racing legend himself \u2013 John Force. \u00a0 But a mechanical issue which emerged following an engine change between rounds cropped up suddenly — and the car would not start. \u00a0 Todd could only look on as John Force singled for the win driving his Castrol GTX Ford Mustang.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter all that to sit there and watch Force blow the tires off on that single was a helpless feeling,\u201d Todd revealed.\u00a0 \u201cYou just could not help but think of what could have been.\u00a0 But that\u2019s all part of the reality of drag racing.\u00a0 It seems if you are injured in this sport —\u00a0 some salt gets thrown in (LOL!)<\/em>. \u00a0 But \u00a0I\u2019m very sure our day will come.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe kicked the rods out winning round one so we had to switch motors,\u201d Todd continued\u00a0 \u201cIt appears that we then had an issue with the wiring of the car \u2013 something got burnt and shorted out.\u00a0 That\u2019s why the car would not start.\u201d<\/p>\n

Overall the event effort was truly positive for the new team which continues to jell quickly towards the future.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe guys truly did a great job,\u201d Todd confided.\u00a0 \u201cThe track out there was very difficult with the changing conditions and all the dust blowing on it.\u00a0 It was really a tuners game and Chuck and Grant gave me a great car to drive.\u00a0 With every lap I\u2019m gaining more confidence and the car is really storming.\u00a0 I honestly thought we had a realistic chance of winning this and everyone is full of optimism about our next race for Las Vegas.<\/p>\n

The team\u2019s next scheduled event is for the SummitRacing.com Nationals at LVMS (April 5-7th<\/sup>).<\/p>\n
