{"id":550,"date":"2013-02-21T01:16:30","date_gmt":"2013-02-21T01:16:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?p=550"},"modified":"2013-02-27T17:47:11","modified_gmt":"2013-02-27T17:47:11","slug":"a-super-solid-start","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?p=550","title":{"rendered":"A Super Solid Start!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>A Super Solid Start!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Todd Lesenko and Chuck Worsham\u2019s first race back together has produced very impressive results.<\/p>\n<p>The team\u2019s debut of the all new Canadiana-themed Dodge Charger raised a lot of attention from both media and performance perspectives during last weekend\u2019s NHRA season-opening O\u2019Reilly Auto Parts Winternationals at Pomona California.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Lesenko3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-553\" alt=\"Lesenko3\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Lesenko3.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"303\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Despite it being his very first time ever driving this new car \u2013 on Saturday Todd qualified #15 with a best run of 4.250 secs at 302.69 mph.\u00a0\u00a0 Then on Sunday he beat out defending NHRA World Champion Jack Beckman in a super exciting battle that saw both drivers battle tire spin.\u00a0 Todd won that match by a 5.023 secs to 5.457 secs margin.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Lesenko2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-552\" alt=\"Lesenko2\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Lesenko2.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"401\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In round two, Lesenko then faced off against another DSR team car \u2013 the spectacular looking Dodge Charger driven by New Mexico\u2019s Johnny Gray.\u00a0\u00a0 Todd was first off the starting line with a .047 RT and ran a career best 4.202 secs at 307.30 mph \u2013 however that was not quite quick enough to hold off Gray\u2019s winning 4.038 secs.<\/p>\n<p>Despite that loss in the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> frame \u2013 Todd Lesenko and his entire racing team felt very gratified.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis car is quite a bit different than anything I\u2019ve driven before,\u201d said Lesenko.\u00a0 \u201cIt is a solid tube car and it steers differently.\u00a0 The car also reacts very quickly to horsepower and because of all that tremendous increase in power it took a bit of getting use to over the first couple of runs.\u00a0 We got the car tamed down and going into that last qualifier we all felt confident we were going to qualify \u2013 and that\u2019s exactly what we did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOverall for our new team to qualify at it\u2019s very first race together\u00a0and go to round two &#8212;\u00a0is a very gratifying start to our season,\u201d Todd continued.\u00a0 \u201cOur crew lead by Chuck Worsham and Grant Downing did a tremendous job turning the car around.\u00a0 We had really no issues with parts all weekend &#8212; even the main bearings were reusable.\u00a0 That tells you something about just how good the tune-up is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Lesenko1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-551\" alt=\"Lesenko1\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/02\/Lesenko1.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"342\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The team will now head off to Firebird Raceway at Phoenix for the 29<sup>th<\/sup> NHRA Arizona Nationals next weekend.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Visit the team\u2019s \u00a0event photo gallery:\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?page_id=75\"> HERE<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><em>(Select 2013 &#8211; Pomona)<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i>Photos and posting by:\u00a0 Bruce Biegler<\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Super Solid Start!
