{"id":5454,"date":"2023-05-20T06:19:00","date_gmt":"2023-05-20T06:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?p=5454"},"modified":"2024-05-25T06:46:53","modified_gmt":"2024-05-25T06:46:53","slug":"ndrc-funny-car-inclusion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?p=5454","title":{"rendered":"NDRC Funny Car Inclusion&nbsp;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The future for Australia\u2019s nitro-burning Funny Car contingent received a major boost within the recent announcement from a newly formed primary drag racing series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Andy Lopez and Nathan Prendergast, the team behind the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship, have announced the creation of the National Drag Racing Championship (<a href=\"https:\/\/nationaldragracing.com.au\/\">NDRC<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NDRC is the new, unified national championship for drag racing in Australia &#8211; something that most drag racing proponents feel is long overdue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Screen-Shot-2023-04-17-at-11.59.46-am-e1684995483878.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/Screen-Shot-2023-04-17-at-11.59.46-am-e1684995483878.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5455\"\/><\/a><figcaption>Funny Car racing within Australia will play an intricate part within the new NDRC series &#8212; they will be featured at 5 events during the season.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The NDRC represents a new era for drag racing in Australia, with Top Fuel, <strong>Nitro Funny Car<\/strong>, Top Doorslammer, Pro Alcohol, Pro Stock, Top Fuel Motorcycle, Pro Stock Bike, Pro Mod, and Sportsman all having the opportunity to race in one national championship series.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The NDRC calendar will be announced soon \u2014 it will feature eleven championship events headlined by either the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship or the Nitro Funny Car Championship, bringing more nitro racing to Australian drag racing fans than ever before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 1st new season will conclude with a marquee single <strong>Grand Final<\/strong> event for all professional categories in 2024 at the Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This mega event sees the Burson Top Fuel Championship and Nitro Funny Cars Championship come together with Group 1 for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/NDRS-Morice.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"643\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/NDRS-Morice.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5459\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/NDRS-Morice.jpg 500w, https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/NDRS-Morice-259x333.jpg 259w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/a><figcaption>Morice McMillin<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Funny Car driver Morice McMillin from Aeroflow stated, \u201cAs both a sponsor and a racer, this is a really good day.
