{"id":456,"date":"2012-11-13T20:39:39","date_gmt":"2012-11-13T20:39:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?p=456"},"modified":"2012-11-13T22:46:30","modified_gmt":"2012-11-13T22:46:30","slug":"true-grit-showing-at-season-finale","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?p=456","title":{"rendered":"True Grit Showing at Season Finale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>True Grit Showing at Season Finale\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Todd Lesenko\u2019s final drag racing event appearance of the season came during NHRA\u2019s season-ending AAA Auto Club Finals at Pomona California.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Unfortunately for Todd and the entire Jim Dunn Racing team that effort again proved to be memorable \u2013 but mostly for the wrong reasons.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Finals-TL6.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-458\" title=\"Finals-TL6\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/Finals-TL6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"331\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> time this season Todd suffered a massive engine explosion and Funny Car body jettison \u2013 and this one might have been the most violent.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The wild incident came during the third qualifying session early on Saturday afternoon when the engine failed at about \u00be track sending the Tap It Brewing Chevy body high into air in front of a jam-packed standing room only\u00a0crowd of spectators.\u00a0\u00a0 Todd did a truly masterful job in collecting the now barren car chassis which pitched violently a number of times.\u00a0\u00a0 Incredibly &#8212; the car never did make contact with the guardwalls at any point.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/DSC_6985x.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-459\" title=\"DSC_6985x\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/DSC_6985x.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"422\" height=\"424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/DSC_6985x.jpg 422w, https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/11\/DSC_6985x-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 422px) 100vw, 422px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to the crew, this incident was traced back to a faulty (leaking) fuel line which caused the engine to lean out unexpectedly resulting in the motor detonation\u00a0and consequences.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Most importantly Todd was not injured in the\u00a0incident which once again because of it\u2019s &#8220;over the top&#8221;
