{"id":3450,"date":"2019-01-29T18:16:37","date_gmt":"2019-01-29T18:16:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?p=3450"},"modified":"2019-01-29T18:30:01","modified_gmt":"2019-01-29T18:30:01","slug":"19-ford-fc-breaks-cover","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?p=3450","title":{"rendered":"&#8217;19 Ford FC &#8211; Breaks Cover!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>2019 Ford Mustang NHRA Funny Car\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Seeks To Become Fastest Mustang Ever!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&gt; First look at new Ford Mustang Funny Car body for NHRA competition<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&gt; 2019 Ford Mustang Funny Car makes debut this week in NHRA pre-season test<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&gt; First new Funny Car body for Ford since 2009 and first Ford race car developed without full-size prototypes<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&gt; New body will be run by longtime Ford drag racing veterans Bob Tasca III and Tim Wilkerson<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">At the SEMA Show in 2017, Ford announced it would return to NHRA Funny Car racing in 2018 and prepare a new Mustang body for competition for the 2019 season.<\/p>\n<p>Fourteen months later, that new Mustang body is ready to make its debut in the hands of Bob Tasca III\u2019s Motorcraft\/Quick Lane NHRA Funny Car team as NHRA hosts its official pre-season test this week in Phoenix.<\/p>\n<p>The 2019 Funny Car body is not only the first new body for a Nitro-powered car for Ford in a decade, but also the first Ford racecar to skip the full-size prototype phase of development. It\u2019s the result of a process that has significant cost reduction implications for both road and race vehicle design.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen our new Mustang Funny Car hits the track in 2019, we fully expect it to validate the motorsport development tools we\u2019ve worked hard to create and refine,\u201d said Mark Rushbrook, global director, Ford Performance Motorsports. \u201cWhen you\u2019re discussing the realm of speeds exceeding 300 miles per hour, tolerances in aerodynamics become minuscule. Even the slightest change can have a massive effect. Working in such a focused space allows us to gain insight to aerodynamic improvements for both our racing and road cars.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?attachment_id=3449\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3449\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3449\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/2019_Ford_Mustang_Funny_Car_1-e1548785686721.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"267\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have the utmost faith in our computational fluid dynamics software and its ability to overcome such small margins for error, which allowed us to create this new racecar without the need for full-scale prototypes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tasca\u2019s Motorcraft\/Quick Lane Racing team, guided by returning crew chief Eric Lane and newly-named co-crew chief Mike Green, will put the car through its first NHRA-sanctioned test session before the approaching NHRA Winternationals in Pomona.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oceanusresources.ca\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2866\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-2866\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/oceanus_250x116.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"116\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I\u2019ve never been more confident heading into a new season,\u201d said Tasca. \u201cFord Performance has stepped it up big time with the new Mustang Funny Car body, and it will make our team even stronger in 2019. The level of competition in this class is incredible, but with the support of Ford, and perfect execution from my team, you&#8217;ll see us claiming victory before long. We have only one thing on our minds, and that\u2019s putting our Motorcraft\/Quick Lane Funny Car in the winner circle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tim Wilkerson, who has operated a successful single-car privateer operation for many years, will also be running the new Mustang body for the 2019 season, and echoes the excitement of longtime friend and rival Tasca.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI&#8217;m proud to be part of the new Ford Performance program, beginning in 2019,\u201d said Wilkerson. \u201cWe&#8217;ve been running a Ford body since 2009 and have earned 10 of our 20 wins with the Mustang &#8211; so I&#8217;m really excited about getting a chance to be more closely involved with Ford again and run the latest and greatest Mustang body. Our involvement with Ford Performance and the input of their engineers will allow us to have support similar to what a multi-car team has.
