{"id":1947,"date":"2016-03-31T17:26:56","date_gmt":"2016-03-31T17:26:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?p=1947"},"modified":"2016-03-31T17:28:46","modified_gmt":"2016-03-31T17:28:46","slug":"exercise-your-right","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?p=1947","title":{"rendered":"Exercise your Right!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>To vote that is!\u2026.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As part of NHRA\u2019s 50th Anniversary of Funny Car celebration, fans will have the opportunity to vote for the cars they believe are the most important in the class\u2019 history.<\/p>\n<p>After hundreds of suggestions from fans, an expert panel of drag racing historians and journalists narrowed the final list to 20, based on the cars\u2019 influence and success within the class.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/FC-Bernstein.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1941\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/FC-Bernstein.jpg\" alt=\"FC-Bernstein\" width=\"499\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nNHRA legends such as John Force, Don \u201cthe Snake\u2019 Prudhomme, Kenny Bernstein, and \u201cJungle Jim\u201d Liberman all have cars on the list, which spans from 1966\u2019s introduction of the class, as represented by Don Nicholson\u2019s Mercury Comet, the first flip-top Funny Car, to 2015, as represented by \u201cFast Jack\u201d Beckman\u2019s national-record-setting Infinite Hero Dodge. The list includes record breakers, barrier breakers, race and championship winners, and cars that moved the class forward, either technologically, by sponsorship or by name association.<\/p>\n<p>Exactly half of the cars on the list were from the 1970s, clearly one of the golden ages for the class. Four were from the 1960s, and six are from 1980 to present.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/FC-White.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1946\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/FC-White.jpg\" alt=\"FC-White\" width=\"500\" height=\"277\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nVoting on NHRA.com begins March 31 and runs through May 3.
