{"id":1777,"date":"2015-10-13T14:39:31","date_gmt":"2015-10-13T14:39:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?p=1777"},"modified":"2015-10-20T14:53:08","modified_gmt":"2015-10-20T14:53:08","slug":"successful-title-defence-for-rupert","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/?p=1777","title":{"rendered":"Successful IHRA Title Defence for Rupert"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>California&#8217;s Jason Rupert has successfully defended his claim as the IHRA World Champion!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/NFFC-Rupert1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1775\" src=\"https:\/\/nitrofccanada.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/NFFC-Rupert1.jpg\" alt=\"NFFC-Rupert1\" width=\"500\" height=\"350\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The popular driver of the &#8220;Bays &amp; Rupert&#8221; Black Plague Camaro continued some late season dominance by winning the IHRA&#8217;s season finale Summit World Finals event held at Memphis International Raceway.<\/p>\n<p>Jason Rupert had battled with Ohio&#8217;s Mike McIntire Jr. on top of the IHRA leader board all season long in the fan favourite AMSOIL Nitro Funny Car presented by Aeromotive class. The duo won nine races between them during the 12-race season and were predominant in the overall points standings.<\/p>\n<p>At Memphis, both Rupert and McIntire advanced to the semifinal round but McIntire failed to advance into the final round when number one qualifier Shawn Bowen took the win.<\/p>\n<p>Rupert then clinched the championship when he went on to win the final scoring a convincing 5.595 secs 261.72 mph to 5.766 238.55 mph win over Bowen. That overcame McIntire who had initially built up a very significant points lead by winning four of the first five races of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Canada&#8217;s Tim Boychuk, racing the Twig Zeiger-tuned Happy Hour Pontiac Firebird out of Edmonton, who qualified #3 at Memphis, also finished 3rd in the final standings.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">AMSOIL NITRO FUNNY CAR PRESENTED BY AEROMOTIVE &#8211; Final Points Standings &#8211; 2015<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">1.
